I’m James Robertson, a Commercial Food & Beverage Photographer based in Norman, Oklahoma. Originally from California—born in the mountains, raised by the beach—my heart’s always been driven by curiosity and wherever a full tank could take me.
My journey started at a 1-Hour Photo shop in 2003. Since then, I’ve chased light, emotion, and authenticity—first through street and sports photography, and eventually through the culinary lens. That path led me to Barbie, a brilliant chef and food stylist, and together we created J.R. Photography.
Food photography holds a unique power—it evokes emotion instantly. It reconnects us with memory, with warmth, with people. A well-crafted image doesn’t just sell—it tells.
But I’m not just here to make something beautiful. I’m here to make something meaningful. Your brand has a story. I help you tell it—through visuals that connect, invite, and inspire.
From crafted cocktails to slow-pulled espresso, artisan dishes to bold brand campaigns, I create images that honor the intention behind the plate. My goal is to bring that same care and artistry to your brand that you’ve already poured into it.
